Interview with Temi - Link Bid Script Founder and Entraprenaur

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

1. How long have you been in the internet business?
Temi - I registered my first domain name in 1998, I suppose that means I have been online for about 10 years.

2. Was there anything in particular that enticed you to the industry?
Temi - I did not make a conscious effort to go into the Internet business, I drifted into it. Prior to going into online business, even prior to Internet becoming the huge thing it is now, I was a LAN  support engineer, my duties includes getting computers to talk to each other on a LAN, and occasionally, getting them to communicate on a WAN. Internet crept in gradually, in a way, Internet can be thought of as a mega huge WAN, just more exciting than working on a private LAN or WAN,  gradually  I moved into working on the Internet and packed up my day job as a LAN support engineer.

3. What was your inspiration behind Link Bid Script?
Temi - It was Dollar Linking script from iWeb Tool. When I first saw Dollar Linking Script I thought it was beautiful, simple and elegant. I contacted the owner and ask if I could buy a copy of the script, he said no, and sarcastically suggested that I should create my own version. I took on his challenge and created Link Bid Script.

4. Has the success of Link Bid Script inspired you for any other projects?
Temi - Not quite, but experience gained from creating Link Bid Script is helping me in the shopping cart project I am working on at the moment.

5. When should we all expect the release of the much awaited regularly web directory script based on LBS?
Temi - I don’t want to give a specific date and time in case I am not able to deliver. I like keeping my promises because I am giving Link Bid Script away free and only work on it when its quiet at the sites that pay the mortgage. Things are pretty busy there at the moment, however I have imposed a deadline of middle of this year on myself for getting the script you asked about online.

6. What advice would you give anyone wishing to start a bidding directory?
Temi - The first advice is a completely biased one; use Link Bid Script :)  the second advice is that you should be very choosy what sites you accept into your directory. Don’t be seduced by money, in the long run those very expensive bid from a certain segment of the gaming industry could harm your directory, unless its a niche directory dedicated to that industry.

7. Will Link Bid Script remain free for the foreseeable future or are there plans to make it paid?
Temi - Link Bid Script will definitely remain free, making the script is taking it places, contrary to the claims of a competition who thinks there script is the number one bidding directory script. Link Bid Script is actually the number one in terms of how many sites uses it. I think this was achieved because its a good script and is totally free. I also enjoy lovely emails and PMs I receive now and again from people thanking me for making it available free.

8. Last but not least - a cheeky question. How do you manage to keep such an awesome script with the best support forum free?
Temi - This is mainly because I love free things. I have benefited from loads of free things on the net. I think this is my own little way of putting something back into the Internet for the community. Lately, I have been getting help from some volunteers, this is also helping keep it free.

BiddingDirectory.co.uk would like to thank Temi for taking the time out for this interview and wish him continuing success with Link Bid Script and his other projects.

Temi is also the founder of UK Webmaster World Forum and the long standing directory: Haabaa.com.
